Katawháyan is a Filipino creative brand based in Milan.

Founded in 2020 in Panay Island, Philippines, Katawháyan started as a creative experimentation with the process of natural dyeing with plants. The fabrics are then sewn by local mothers in the area providing meaningful livelihood opportunity during the challenges of the pandemic.

Having recently moved to Europe, we are currently committed to exploring sustainable ways of producing in slow, intentional pieces and embracing practices that honor both the earth and the labor that sustains our craft. We work with discarded domestic textiles generously contributed by the Filipino immigrant community and sewn through a collaboration with immigrant sartoria (sewing shops) in Milan.
